Boats & Security
Only the guide can drive the boat in the V.I.P.
American Plan. All persons aboard must wear the life-jacket
provided by the outfitter. European Plan clients drive the boat
themselves and are responsible for the equipment provided by
Mabec Outfitters.
Note:
It is strictly forbidden for European Plan clients to venture
out onto the Manitou River north of Brézel Lake as this section
of the river is extremely dangerous. Only Mabec Outfitters
guides have the experience and necessary equipment (turbine
motors) to cross the rapids without causing expensive damage to
the boat and motor. Should you decide to go against this
regulations, any damages caused to the boat and/or motor will be
charged as following: $200.00 for a propeller and $1,750.00 for
the propeller tail plus transportation and installation.
Catch limit
The limit is five (5) fish per person. During your
entire stay you must not exceed this possession limit of five
(5) fish. We suggest and encourage you to pratice catch and
release. All lures used must have only single hook.

Luggage
While preparing your luggage, remember that you will
travel to the main camp by float plane. Therefore, a weight
limit for each person (including all your luggage) must be
respected. This limit will vary according to your package.
It is important to respect the baggage weight
limit set per person. Any left over space is reserved for use by
the outfitter to transport merchandise. Should there still be
space available it can be sold to passengers for excess baggage
at a cost of $1.50 per pound.
Float plane
Transportation between Sept-Îles and Mabec
Outfitter is done by float plane of the Beaver or Otter type.
The air operator is Labrador Air Safari at Lac Rapide (airbase).
Flight duration is between 30 or 40 minutes.
Please note that the float planes fly by sight
only. Bad weather is sometimes a major factor which may cause
delays in the flight schedule. Should this happen, we ask for
your understanding.
